Just talkin’ bout Rose Me

April 15th, 2010 by rougearomatics

ROSE ME is a luxurious skin elixir- what is more decadent than a Rosa damascena the Damask Rose? My inspiration was the Organic Damask Rose Essential Oil from France that I was able to source. Rose Essential Oil is hard to find and organic even more difficult. Most rose products on the market contain Rose Absolute and absolutes are never organic. The reason why is that it is a chemical extraction of the rose scent from rose petals. It produces a beautiful scent and is in no way harmful BUT it is not pure like the essential oil. Essential oils are steam distilled and this is an extraction process that is less harsh and retains more of the wide range of properties that roses have to offer.

The purity of the Rose Essential Oil is a bouquet of beneficial elements that heal and enhance your skin. More specifically Rose Essential Oil has a regenerating effect and it is anti-inflammatory- so it reduces redness and it works to repair damage. It works great for all skin types too! Best of all is the amazing floral scent that it irresistible. There is no wonder it has shown to have a soothing effect on the nervous system.

Match all of this with the amazing properties of Rosehip Seed Oil! Extracted from Rosa rubiginosa is primarily produced in Chile. It is referred to as a “dry oil” meaning it soaks into the skin fast! This golden oil is very high in essential fatty acids and chock full of vitamin A and E. Beneficial to all skin types Rosehip Seed Oil is particularly good at fending off, reducing wrinkles, sunspots and even scarring. Like the Rose Essential Oil, it also has regenerating properties but it also promotes collagen, which is the protein that makes skin look supple and youthful.

ROSE ME- treat your face to a bouquet of nature’s most beneficial roses!!

A Little History…

March 29th, 2010 by rougearomatics

There is a story behind the name “rouge” and here it goes… on my Mom’s side of the family, I was the only grandchild that had the privilege of spending time with my Great Grandmother Marie Perrin. She was my Mom’s paternal Grandmother and she was a pretty amazing character. Creative, hard working, and thrifty I have been told. My memories of her include drinking instant milk out of what I thought was a really awesome glass that had cartoon pigs on it and her insistence that I color in the lines! I remember that part being a little stressful. My little creative spirit blossomed as I grew up, I was often compared to her and so it seemed natural that her spirit join me in this endeavor I call “rouge”.

However, there is a little more to the story than that. After she passed away, many of her belongings ended up at my Grandparents house and being somewhat of a child archeologist, I spent time discovering many treasures throughout the nooks, crannies, and drawers of their house. One of my most delightful discoveries was a small golden rouge compact. I was always fascinated with compacts and lockets- this was particularly special because it contained a locket and a small note along with remnants of the brightest red rouge I had ever seen. The note read, “Doctor gave this locket when I had diphtheria in 1898”. It was later explained to me that she very sick and she had very fond memories of the doctor that cared for her during this traumatic illness- one of them being the gift of this small golden locket.
As I write this I am still so amazed that she still had this item from her childhood and that she left it with a note of explanation. She left many notations on the various keepsakes I would come across in all my explorations and all those nuggets of info are true gifts! So, it is in tribute to her spirit and in appreciation of her inspiration that I named my business “rouge aromatics”.
